Press tunnel Deventer
A tunnel of 4,800 tons, pressing over a distance of 30m.
Project Summary
As early as 2000, the then minister decided to close the Oostriklaan level crossing in Deventer. In addition, in 2013 it was promised to close the Stationsweg level crossing. Both level crossings will be replaced by a new tunnel to be constructed at the location of the railway crossing with the Oostriklaan, which also serves as a platform structure. In order to prevent long-term disruption to the railway, the tunnel was built next to the railway line, which made a relocation action necessary. Due to the complex shape and large dimensions of the tunnel, it was not possible to move it using ‘conventional sliding techniques’. In this case, open trench pressing was the best option. By using cylinders with a stroke of up to 2200 mm and heavy-duty system columns, we were able to move the 4,800-ton tunnel over a distance of 30 m.
